Special Initiatives

Oftentimes it happens that ENGAGE meets interesting persons, amazing activists and leaders in the field of disabilities. Synergies are created and forms of friendships are formed. Whenever ENGAGE can help, we are happy to do what we can:

Support to Blinds Rock trainings 2013

Support to young social activist to empower visually impaired persons through dance. The idea was conceived by a young social activist Sristi KC, herself a visually impaired person.

Two trainings have been so far held with the overall goal of enhancing participant's self-confidence and positive attitudes. By being able to control their bodies while dancing, the participants feel free and reinvigorated. Twenty five (25) visually impaired persons have been attending the classes that also included body language training and physical exercises.

Mr. Dev Datta Joshi was finally selected by Open Society and ENGAGE is currently supporting him in VISA preparation and logistics. He is due to leave in August 2013.

Supporting the fight against Thalassemia, 2013

ENGAGE supported Paras Mishra, social worker in the field of Thalassemia to raise money to attend the World Thalassemia Conference held in Abu Dhabi in October 2013. Despite being Paras a parson living with a serious level of Thalassemia, he is advocating for free, public treatment for all the persons affected by the disease. ENGAGE designed for him an incredible (but unsuccessful!!!) crowd funding campaign but somehow money were raised and Paras attended the conference.
